Hip and Knee surgeon  and Engineer

I was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Oxford 25 years ago. I specialise in adult hip and knee surgery. My main interest is joint replacement and I am recognised world wide as an expert in this field.

I have an Engineering background and am a Profesor in the University of Oxford. I lead the Oxford Orthopaedic Engineering Center, which is a very successful research unit within the University. Our greatest achievement has been the development of the Oxford Knee, which has been implanted in over a million patients and is the most successful and most widely used partial knee replacement.

Whilst at The University of Cambridge I developed my Engineering and Biological skills necessary to support my hip and knee research and development.

I run the very successful Oxford Orthopeadic Engineering Centre, in the University of Oxford. This focuses primarily on hip and knee research

I have been involved with the development of surgical techniques, instruments and implants for Total Hip and Total Knee Replacements. However my greatest contribution has been the Oxford Knee.
